Studies of Southwest Virginia have shown that the future of economic development in
the region depends upon business diversification. In response to this, the Southwest
Regional Enterprise Center was created to help with the establishment and growth of small
to medium-sized businesses. To budding entrepenuers, the SREC offers workshops,
assistance with business plan development, marketing and professional networking
opportunities with other local business and state organizations. All of these

spaces dedicated to providing a safe environment where small businesses can grow.
